Pneumatic Actuator Valve - Dombor

Pneumatic actuated valves control the pressure, rate, and amount of air as it moves through a pneumatic system. Dombor, a pneumatic valve manufacturer for two decades, offers high-quality and long-lasting pneumatic actuators in the market.

Our pneumatic valves, consisting of multiple pneumatic springs, a pneumatic actuator, and a low-flow-resistance sleeve, allow air pressure to move the valve stem or control element. More than that, our pneumatic actuated valves are structured to work with a temperature range of -196°C to 800°C and achieve optimum force or torque movement. So get your pneumatic valves here at Dombor! We guarantee our products are produced per international standards.

About

How does a pneumatic valve work?

Pneumatic valves are one of the most common actuators. They are typically comprised of an adjusting screw, breather plug, spring, diaphragm assembly, bonnet, and stem.

Their work starts with the adjusting screw putting pre-load on the spring to launch the valve in its fail position. The diaphragm, a key component, moves with the spring and holds air pressure, and without a pneumatic alert on it, the valve will remain in its fail position. Next, the breather plug lets the non-energized side of the diaphragm move freely without getting air locked. Then, the diaphragm pressurizes when the actuator receives a signal from a pressure pilot.

Once the pilot senses upstream pressure, it sends an output signal through tubing into the valve’s actuator. As a result, the actuator actuates, driving the valve open or closed, depending on its configuration.

Pneumatic Valve Types

Two-Way directional control pneumatic valves

Two-way directional valves are simple components that can help you save energy and money. These valves have an inlet and an outlet port, which can be open or closed. If the ports are open, air may move from the first port through the valve and the second port or opposite.

Moreover, their flow systems may experience variable changes in temperature, flows, and pressures. As a result, these valves can lower total operating costs by reducing absorbed pumping power and running heating and cooling systems under shifting speeds.

Three-Way directional control pneumatic valves

Three-way air control valves possess three ports, where each port serves a different purpose. The first port is used to link the valve to an actuator or another device. Then, there is the second port, which is connected to an airflow. The last port serves as an exhaust exit.

If the first and second ports open while the third is closed, the air moves through the valve to the device. The actuator can vent exhaust when the first and third ports are open and the second port is closed. Three-way pneumatic valves are often used to connect actuators in cylinders or used in pairs and connect to double-acting cylinders.

Four-Way directional control pneumatic valves

Four-way directional control valves have four ports. Two are connected to actuators, another one relates to a pressurized airflow, and the last port serves as an exhaust pathway. An additional port is usually added to a four-way valve, making it a five-ported four-way valve. A four-way valve with an auxiliary port is used to provide dual pressure, which means the valve can apply one of two kinds of pressure and alternate between the two depending on what the application requires.

Spring offset pneumatic valves

Spring offset pneumatic valve types refer to how airflow direction is switched.

For instance, in a two-way directional valve, the valve is open or closed. For each port to assume an open or closed position, an actuator “actuates” or moves a valve spool into position. Then, a spring releases the valve spool and returns the pneumatic actuated valve to its prior position. A two-way directional control valve that functions in this manner is also called a spring offset valve.

Common Pneumatic Valve Functions

flow

Flow Control

Pneumatic flow control valves help control the flow rate from the actuator, which converts the air pressure into motion. If cylinders are erratic or hard to control, it usually tells you something is wrong with the flow control valve. Flow control valves adjust the airflow management in one direction that lets the air ensureflow freely in the other direction. There are two major types of flow control valves. One is the meter-out valve, which controls the exhaust flow from the actuator, and the other is the meter-in valve, which restricts the airflow or gas to the actuator.

pressure

Pressure Control

Pressure control valves can protect the system from damages caused by excessive pressure. These pneumatic valves perform pressure control of a system, such as using a line relief valve to limit the maximum allowable system pressure. These valves are typically seen in hydraulic systems, and they can protect the hydraulic system. However, if the pressure in a system is not checked correctly, it could cause severe damages to the system, leading to a waste of time and money. There are three types of pressure control valves: pressure reducing, pressure relief, and pressure safety.

directional

Directional Control

Pneumatic actuated valves also stop or change the direction of the pressurized air or gas. There are many types, but the most common ones are the two-way, three-way, and four-way directional valves.
